For those that don't know, I've been working on this painting for a month straight! That's a big deal for me! I don't know about how some other artists work but if I don't finish a piece in one or two sittings, it then becomes data waste. So just about everyday I had to sit down after work, find an unfinished piece of this picture, zoom WAY in, and just keep scraping along.
I can't say I've always been a huge fan of Dark Souls or From Software. I started paying attention after Dark Souls II but before Bloodborne. The storylines were way more than I originally thought and I was slowly dragged into these massive and beautiful works of art.
I didn't buy any of the games for the longest time, that's the funniest part. I just got started watching YouTube videos of people's playthroughs and reactions. It wasn't until I found VaatiVidya's work, and was exposed to his elaborate word smithing and story telling, that I really began to fall in love with the games. His researched insights into the lore and stories of major characters, locations, and events helped me gain a much larger understanding of these worlds. He's got these "Prepare to Cry" videos he makes when he comes across a character's story and it ends up being super sad. I won't lie to you, a couple of man tears threatened insurrection while watching some of those. From Software dismantled the hand breaks from this little tricycle; they wanted to pluck all of your heartstrings to play a beautiful melody as you bleed out on the floor.
The stories that (I'm going to say "destroyed") me were about Solaire and Siegmeyer. If you don't know, then I'll try not to spoil anything. I'll just give you a tiny piece of why I chose these two:
Solaire chose to become undead so he could attempt to fulfill a prophecy where the chosen one rekindled the first flame and brought light back to the dying world. He was a man who worshiped the sun and one day hoped he could be the shining light that saved everyone.
Siegmeyer was an adventure addict who left his wife and daughter behind to seek his fortune and thrills in a new land. He thought his only drive, and reason to exist, was his love of adventure. That was, until his daughter came to this strange and dangerous land just to find him and tell him his wife's dying words.
That's really all I can say without spoiling anything major. If you want to learn more, then you can either play Dark Souls (the first one) or go check out VaatiVidya and try not to let a few sniffles out.

Brandon designs for food and rent. People just started to really like his work so now he does it more. He also apparently likes to type in the third person because he wrote this, about himself. He acknowledges this and look, he's still writing about himself.... typing words like "himself". Not only that, but he also can't spell very well. As humble as it sounds, he had to rewrite that word "apparently" somewhere close to seven times due to some kind of stubborn pride til he eventually gave in and let spell check do it's damn job. And just now, writing it again, he had to eye ball the first one.
